My first semester in the university

...Registration...Orientation...Freshers' Official Party...Lectures...
Matriculation...Strike...End of Strike(aaaargh!!!)...Mid-Semester Exams...
Revision week...End of Semester Exams...Vacation :D
I recall asking a lot of university students how university was like back then when I completed senior high school and was waiting for my results.I heard things like: "There's so much freedom in the university" ,"You don't even have to go for lectures","University is all about the parties, more chilling."

To tell you the blatant TRUTH: University is nowhere like all they told me.It is rather the OPPOSITE..Yeah,that's the truth. There might be freedom to some extent but how much?Lectures might not be compulsory but did I inform you about the hell I went through for missing just one lecture?

The fun part of the university is quite indispensable:Matriculation day, where all of us where gallantly dressed and eager to be called first year students;the parties;church activities;hall socializing and many others.

The strike period also set it and honestly,it did help people like me to relax and refresh my body from previous weeks of hectic lectures.Almost everybody didn't want the strike to end because we were now so comfortable and laziness was taking the better part of us.Quite unexpectedly, the lecturers' arrears were settled by the government and before our laziness level aggravated,we were back inside the classroom learning vectors and mechanics.LOL.

Examination last semester was an abnormal one(seriously).Instead of using one whole month,we used less than two weeks.Severe stress set in especially for those who offered more than ten courses.

Well,at least I have a smile on my face. After all,so many people are not privileged to be in the university like you and me.We thank God for a very successful semester and for bringing us all safely from diverse places back home to celebrate Christmas with our families.

How did your first semester go?
Feel free to share it in the comment section below.

UNIVERSITY OF GHANA(LEGON) RAISES THE PASS MARK TO 80%

The University of Ghana (Legon) from next academic year will only award grade A to students who score 80% and above.

Previously, the system awarded grade A to students who scored 70% and above. The decision which was taken by the academic board of the University is part of revisions being made to the University’s academic system.

The new grading system will start next academic year alongside some new programmes. The review of the university's academic system will also consider grades obtained at Level 100 which were previously non-scoring to the students’ cumulative point average at the end of their four-year study.

Logic and reasoning will also become a prerequisite for every student of the university before graduation.

University students especially, the  freshers are urged to learn hard since their grades for first year will be taken into consideration.

WANDE COAL SAYS THE NUDE PICTURE IS NOT HIM!

A few days ago, there were was so much fuss about Wande Coal being nude in a picture that spread all over the internet. This is the official statement from Mohits on Wande Coal's Nude picture saga:

SOMEBODY IS AFTER WANDE COAL-MOHITS
It has come to our notice that a purported nude picture of Wande Coal is being circulated on social networking site, Twiter and that made him a trending topic yesterday and early hours of today.

Wande is very grateful to those who have shown him love and as well to those who were constructive in their criticisms. He is saying a massive THANK YOU.

We also want to state categorically that there is nothing wrong or to be ashamed about being naked BUT THE PICTURES IN QUESTION ARE NOT THOSE OF WANDE COAL, the multiple Hip Hop World Award winner. That is not him and that can never be him.

It is worthy of note to let you know that the rising star has been a target of orchestrated attacks in past months. Few months ago false reports of him being treated in a psychiatric home were widely circulated even when he was busy performing in shows in Nigeria and around the world. Later, another report of him slapping a fellow in a club was initiated by some faceless people as well, a report which was false in its entirety. Last year it was also reported that he slapped 9ice during an argument, a report 9ice himself denied. Now, it is a false naked picture that is being used.

We have reason to believe that the person behind these nude pictures is the same person(s) behind earlier negative and false stories. Therefore, we are no longer taking the matter lightly. Appropriate security agencies have been briefed and investigations are on-going so as to ascertain true identity of the culprit and bring him or her to book.

Wande would also like to appeal to his numerous fans to keep calm and assure them that he won’t stop making good music, love them and keep right in all his doings.

ANGELINA JOLIE WILL BE IN GHANA THIS WEEKEND

Information reaching the News-One newspaper has it that Angelina Jolie, the one-time most powerful Hollywood woman on earth, is arriving in the country today(July 15). The popular actress and some other international stars will be visiting Ghana for the first time on a United Nations (UN) assignment.

She will this weekend be attending some high profile events in Ghana, some of which are scheduled to take place in the State House, African Regency Hotel and the plush Citizen Kofi entertainment spot.

But for all the strange reasons one can think of, the Hollywood goddess’ coming to town is being kept under wraps, and indications are that her United Nations Development Programme (UNDCP) organizers don’t want to make any fuss about it, perhaps as a top surprise to Jolie’s fans in Ghana. Jolie according to deep sources will be attending Kenny Gee’s Ball at the State House on Friday and an after party at Citizen Kofi.,

On Saturday, she will also be hosted at the African Regency hotel as part of the same high profile event. Time and other details of her arrival are still being kept away from curious minds. Jolie is United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and has been touring Third World Countries, calling for greater international attention and assistance to needy countries.
